Candy and his dog are similar to George and Lennie because George is Lennie’s Caretaker and friend where as Candy’s dog is like his son and bestfriend buts he is getting old and frail that Candy has to take even more care of him now. with Candy and his dog there is more of a special bond because he treats the dog with way more respect and love than George shows towards Lennie.
Jazz and The cops
The plot of this book hooks the reader. The reason being is because Jazz is just a young boy who a terrible childhood It keeps you hooked by foreseeing the investigation through a murderers view. A big idea that I see would be how Jazz’s dad is the one behind all the murderes and he is sending Jazz on a crazy chase for a seiral killer but its him all along. The reason I see this is because the cops are constantly reminding Jazz that his dad is still in the state penitentary.

Since Jazz spent his life with his seiral killer dad he was taught all the tips and tricks there is. With that information that Jazz learned he’s using it to catch a new seiral killer on the loose. He’s been able to piece together how the murderers have happened and what the seiral killer used. Jazz hopes to use his lifelong skills to find the killer and help the cops.
Belonging
What it means to belong is having a place or feeling that you are accepted for just being yourself a feeling of comfort. The importance I see in people feeling like their belonged is the morals that come with it. Someone who feels accepted or like they belong will fit in better and not be so pressured their moods are improved and they want to be there. It’s important for people to feel like they belong because if they don’t then nothing will ever be right feeling accepted is the same as being accepted.
Hysteria
Episode five displays many different kinds of hysteria for example. Before the Panic all broke out Deidre shows us how she got the implant and was so excited and unable to control herself she let other people find out. There’s more examples of this when Oscar was being Killed there was a uncontrolable fear and tone going through everyone causing a major panic. At the end you can find deidre using hysteria to make suspense and make the situation serious she changes from telling her story to telling Lia shes a part of it and how she has been all along. A good question would be if one person started to be hysteric would the emotions and fear still transfer through the implants? and would everyone be affected by it?
Jazz’s childhood trauma.
I like this book. There is always something sketchy going on or it’s always building up suspense. I like how Jazz will flashback into his memories with his dad when trying to figure out details. A really good aspect is how they still have his dad or the
Serial killer in the book. Its interesting how when investigating crime scenes Jazz dates back to remember what his dad taught him and how he would’ve done it it’s helpful to know this when he wants to be a detective.
When reading you’ll find that Jazz uses his moms death as a big forgetful spot and how he didn’t remember after. It gives a good reasoning to how Jazz can’t tell any families of the victims what happened. Something that stuck out to me was how Jazz is able to only date back to memories that are similar to his current scenario or how memories will pop into his head from certain places and objects. I like how his trauma and sadness gets shown more and more gradually as you get to know him more and find out about his childhood.
Conformity/Society
You should not have to change yourself to fit in. It is seen very commonly today where people and groups will all act the same do the same things just so they’re “Fitting in”. People that choose to be themselves should still be able to hang around with the crowd. You shouldn’t have to shelter yourselves and emotions for someone elses opinion.
Character change
I would say its the main big idea in my book because His character change is a big part of his career and to help him solve the cases. The reason I chose character change is because my character had to change the way he reacted to things due to being tramautized. He learned how a seiral killler lives what they do how they act, where they are, who they are. The main character did a lot of reflection on how his dad acted and how he could use that to solve the case he was on since his dad was a serial killer. He changed the way he looked at certain things and cherished the small details. He had to accept his dad was a serial killer and he had to forget and forgive what he had witnessed him all doing. Years of him remembering what happened and how it all went he is a good detective working on murder cases and is really good at tracking them down or on what happened.

Similarities and differeneces between Zits and Teens today
Similarities
Lonely
Why do teens act so quickly on emotions?
“I was triggered into rage before I could access my rational mind and feel sad for myself. As a result I felt shame and helpless and almost instantaneously exploded.
Teenagers today often react the same way Zits does by acting with emotions instead of thinking first. Teens make fast decisons and don’t think much in bad scenarios. Zits is unable to control his decsions and choices.
Difference
Lonely
We are quiet in these moments of the war against loneliness.”
Teenagers today can relate to Zits through their feelings and emotions. Zits has never had someone there for him and nobody to talk to or relate to. Teenagers today experience loneliness by believing they’re alone and nobody is there for them when there are many people.
Similarities
Agression leading to regret
“Shame tends to erase the individual’s sense of psychic worth. It can also fragment the person’s cognitive functions so that enraged acting-out can occur before they realize they are triggered by shame.”
An example of agression leading to regret would be Zits reflecting on his actions in the bank. You can find similar examples in teens today for instance a teen will likely reflect on something that happened for a day maybe even days.
Differences
Agression leading to regret
“I have anger issues and I must get them under control as soon as possible.”
The difference between zits and teen today is the amount of help they recieve. A kid struggling today has many different help sources where as Zits found help in strangers and foster care. He didn’t have any resources to help him nor did he have anybody.
Similarities
Self thoughts
“If you’re not happy with something, change it.“
Some key things between these paragraphs are how when they both were at they’re lowest they knew they deserved more. In both stories theres connections on how they both had to push themselves to want to do good and improve their lives.
Difference
Self thoughts
“There’s no amount of self-improvement that can make up for a lack of self-acceptance.”
The difference Between these are that Zit’s belieives that no amount of his help will get him anywhere. Where this article is saying that you just need to accept it and improve where as Zit’s had already accepted it and couldn’t move on.
Fathers
This chapter gave a good explaining on what Zits father and how his father treated him. I Believe Alexie wanted to show his father getting treated unfairly and not being shown love to provide a reasonable excuse for him being absent and not caring about Zits life. It affected Zits life in a state where he wanted his dad back in a sense that he missed him without even knowing him. An effect that echos through Zits life would be him constantly flashing black going to happy places and happy memories.
Challenge book
I can only say maybe 5 or fewer books that would have been challenged. They would all be challenged due to just gore, trauma, and vulgar language. Flight could cause controversy because there are many different races and many different traumatizing scenes. There are scenes where Zits talks about the hardships and traumas he has gone through. There is murder in every story. An issue I’ve found in Flight that can relate to kids today is how there is nobody reliable. Kids today struggle with not trusting people enough to talk to them about their problems and feel nobody is there for them.
